The most important thing on this page
The Concussion & Return-to-Play Log does not clear anyone to play, and it is built so that it cannot. Return-to-play clearance is the decision of a licensed health care provider qualified to evaluate and manage concussion — never a coach, an administrator, a parent, or a spreadsheet. The workbook withholds any return until the written clearance is on file, a provider is named, a clearance date is recorded, every progression step has a date, and your state’s minimum interval has elapsed. Even then it reports who cleared the athlete and when. It opens on a READ THIS FIRST sheet for this reason. When in doubt, sit them out.
The six workbooks
- Coach & Volunteer Certification Matrix — one row per credential rather than per person, because a coach typically holds several from different issuers on different renewal cycles and the four that are current hide the one that is not. Expiry computes from the completion date; you define what each role requires.
- Athlete Protection Self-Audit — eighteen questions across one-on-one interactions, electronic communication, local and team travel, locker rooms and treatment contact, each graded on written, trained and monitored. Includes an exception log.
- Concussion & Return-to-Play Log — as above.
- Player Registration & Age Eligibility— computes age at your league’s cutoff date, not today, and checks it against the divisions you define.
- Booster Club Fundraising & Private-Benefit Check — asks one question of every allocation and reports the share credited to individual family accounts.
- Team Travel & Lodging Plan — counts adults and athletes in every vehicle and room, flagging one-on-one situations and supervision ratio.
What is a setting, not a rule
Renewal cycles, per-role requirements, the age cutoff date, division age bands, minimum return intervals and travel ratios are all cells you fill in. They are set by your league, your national governing body and your state, and they differ everywhere — so the workbooks ask rather than assume. There are also deliberately no array formulas anywhere, so nothing returns a different answer in a different spreadsheet.
