How to permanently remove your sign-in access — and why your screening records and identity verification are kept archived for FCRA compliance.

If you no longer want access to VolunteerBadge, you can close your account yourself. Go to Settings → Account and scroll to the bottom, to the Danger zone.

What closing does

Removes your sign-in access. You're signed out on every device and can no longer log in.
Requires you to confirm by typing your account email, so it can't happen by accident.
Is reversible only by our team. To reopen access later, email support@screenforgelabs.com from your account email.

What is kept — and why

Closing your login does not delete your data. VolunteerBadge, operated by ScreenForge Labs, LLC, is a consumer reporting agency regulated under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Your background-screening records are retained and archived, and your identity verification is kept securely on file, because the FCRA requires a consumer reporting agency to maintain these records.

Why we're required to keep records

For example, a consumer can dispute the accuracy of their file, which the FCRA requires us to be able to reinvestigate: “if the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer… the agency shall, free of charge, conduct a reasonable reinvestigation…” (15 U.S.C. § 1681i(a)(1)(A)). Records are also retained for the FCRA statute-of-limitations period (15 U.S.C. § 1681p) and to confirm permissible purpose (15 U.S.C. § 1681e). This is a summary, not legal advice.

Archived data is held securely and access-controlled. A volunteer can still request their own report, or dispute its contents, at any time by emailing support@screenforgelabs.com.

Closing your login vs. closing an organization

Closing your account removes your access. If your organization has other admins, they keep their own access. An owner can also close an entire organization from Settings → Organization → Danger zone — that archives the organization (it loses all access) but, just like closing your account, retains the screening recordswe're required to keep under the FCRA. Neither action deletes those records.
