Camp groups

Session camper groups, ACA ratio bands, who is excluded from the staff count, and why this page is not a determination that the camp meets a standard.

Groups plans camper groups inside one session on This season. Each row is a named group with an age band, how many campers you expect, and which session staff are assigned to that group.

The table compares your count to the American Camp Association parent page How to Choose a Camp: Safety Tips (read 2026-09-29). Day and staff-training sessions use the day column. Overnight, family, retreat, and CIT sessions use the resident column.

Age bands

Pick one of four bands per group: 4–5, 6–8, 9–14, or 15–17. The ratio uses that band's row in the published table.

Who is left out of the count

A person only counts when their session role is marked to count toward the ratio, they are an adult on the session start date, they are at least 16, and they are at least two years older than the top of the group's age band. Counselor-in-training and similar roles do not count. Someone under 18 does not count. Missing date of birth does not count. The row explains why when someone is assigned but excluded.

Planned is who counts toward the ratio and is assigned to the group. Confirmed is who is also Ready on This season.

This page is not a determination that the camp meets a standard. Another ACA page uses different cutoffs. Confirmed headcounts from check-in are separate.
