Need to remind everyone about Saturday's event, or thank your whole team at once? Broadcast sends a single message to all of your volunteersby email — no more copy-pasting into a hundred separate threads. It's a free perk, part of making VolunteerBadge the one place you run your whole volunteer program.

Send a broadcast

  1. Open Messages and click the Broadcast button (the radio icon) in the header — or go to Engage → Broadcast.
  2. You'll see how many volunteers will receive it. Add an optional subject and write your message.
  3. Click Review & send, confirm, and it goes out — branded with your organization's name and logo, with a link back to each volunteer's portal.

Who receives it

Every active volunteer with an email on file (archived and declined volunteers are excluded). Volunteers who muted org emails are skipped automatically, so you always respect their preferences. Only owners and admins can broadcast.

Send only to volunteers who passed their check

Under Send to at the top of the broadcast, choose “Only volunteers who passed their check”. Each option shows its own recipient count, so you can see exactly how many people a send will reach before you write a word.

“Passed” means the volunteer's most recent background check came back clear — including checks where potential records were reviewed and excluded. It deliberately follows the check result rather than the roster badge, so a volunteer you have already Approved is still included; if their latest check found records, they are not, even if an earlier one was clear.

The usual exclusions still apply: archived and declined volunteers, anyone without an email, and anyone who has muted your organization's emails.

Send a video or voice message to your whole team

Want your volunteers to see your face, not just read text? Click “Add a video or voice message” and record right in your browser (or upload a clip). It goes out with your broadcast as a prominent “Watch the video message” button that opens a secure, organization-branded playback page— the clip itself lives in private, encrypted storage and streams through a short-lived link, never a public URL. The playback page follows the volunteer's saved or device light/dark theme (the video or audio stage stays dark for clear controls). It's a powerful, personal way to rally your team before a big event.

What about text messages?

Broadcast is email-onlyfor now. SMS broadcasts are on the way once per-volunteer text consent is in place — sending marketing/reminder texts without consent isn't allowed under carrier (A2P 10DLC) and TCPA rules, and we build the compliant way first.
