The nonprofit & church directory lists 1.5 million+ U.S. organizations from IRS public records, so volunteers can discover places to serve and organizations can claim their public profile. It's free and requires no account to browse.
Three ways to search
- Browse by state: click any state on the map at volunteerbadge.com/nonprofits.
- Search near an address: start typing in the “Or search near your address” box and pick from the address suggestions (or enter a city + state or ZIP), choose a radius (5–100 miles), and click Find nearby. Results are sorted by distance.
- My location: click the My location button to search around wherever you are right now — your browser will ask permission once; your coordinates are used only for that search and never stored.
- Filter: use the organization name, state, city, and category filters below the map.
Ask Victor in your volunteer portal
Signed-in volunteers get the fastest path: open your badge page and click the Victor chat bubble. Ask “what's close by?” — if a home address is on file from a past application, Victor already knows your area (he never asks for a full street address, just a ZIP or city). He'll list nearby nonprofits and churches with distances and links to each profile, and can widen the radius or search another city or a category (churches, food banks, youth programs…).
Victor is your personal volunteer advisor
Part of what your badge membership includes: Victor gets to know you. As you chat, he'll ask about the causes you care about, what you've loved (or disliked) about past volunteering, the skills you want to use, and when you're available — and he remembers those preferences between conversations. Come back next month and he'll pick up where you left off, matching new opportunities to what actually fits you.
- Victor only saves volunteering preferences — never health details, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive information (and he'll never ask for them in chat).
- Memory works when you're signed in to your badge page; signed-out chats are advised in the moment but not remembered.
