Open a volunteer's profile to see their background-check report. Common statuses:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Processing | The check is running (results usually arrive in minutes). |
| Clear | No reportable records found — you’re good to approve. |
| Under review | Records were found and are being reviewed by the ScreenForge Labs CRA team before anything reaches you. |
| Consider | Records were confirmed after review — follow the adverse-action process. |
| Refunded / Error | The check couldn’t be completed and the charge was refunded. |
- Clear reports show an “All Clear” panel with the jurisdictions searched and a note that records older than 7 years, arrests, warrants, and dismissed cases are excluded.
- Reports with records are never shown to you automatically. They're held for human CRA review by our team, who removes anything that isn't truly your applicant before releasing the report.
- Download any report as a PDF with “Download PDF.”
Considering declining a volunteer based on a record?
The law (FCRA) requires a specific process, and the Compliance center walks you through it: a Pre-Adverse Action Notice (with a copy of the report and the CFPB “Summary of Your Rights”), a waiting period of at least 5 business days, then a final Adverse Action Notice. Never auto-reject — assess each record's relevance to the role, and consult counsel when in doubt.
