Most volunteer programs are required to re-screen volunteers on a schedule — often once a year. VolunteerBadge can do this for you automatically: when a volunteer reaches your re-screen interval, we order a fresh background check on your behalf, with no clicking required.
What you get
Turn it on · ~1 minute
- Go to Settings → Screening.
- Set your Re-screen interval (months) — 12 is the default for annual compliance.
- Switch on “Automatically re-run background checks when due.”
- Confirm the authorization statement and save.
How it works
Once a month, VolunteerBadge looks for volunteers whose re-screen date has passed and orders each a new $5 national criminal check automatically (1 credit each). Results flow into your dashboard and Compliance log exactly like a manual check, and the next re-screen date is set forward automatically.
| Guardrail | What happens |
|---|---|
| Authorization required | Only volunteers with FCRA authorization on file are auto-run. Imported volunteers count if you attested at import time. |
| Out of credits | Auto-screening pauses instead of skipping anyone, and emails you to buy credits. The due volunteers run on the next cycle. |
| No duplicates | A volunteer with a check already in progress is never ordered twice. |
| You stay informed | Each cycle you get a summary email of exactly what ran (and what was paused). |
Your FCRA responsibility
Prefer to stay in control? Leave auto-rescreen off and we'll simply email your admins a monthly reminder of who's due, so you can run them with one click.
